The only handicap for amateur riders at the Festival is open to horses aged five and above.

At 40/1, Venetia Williams’ Chambard ended a run of three successive Irish victories in the final race of day three.

However, the Irish are heavily fancied in this year’s renewal. Willie Mullins’ Mr Incredible is up there after finishing second in the Warwick Classic in January, while Stumptown was a comfortable winner in his last two runs.

In the more than capable hands of Gordon Elliott and Jamie Codd – the most successful jockey in this race with four wins – Dunboyne is certainly worth consideration.

The same can be said for Emir Sacree, who finished an encouraging third at Sandown last time out.

Nicky Henderson’s nine-year-old is quite far down the betting, but it would be daft to completely write him off.

After all, Henderson can become the joint-most successful trainer in this race should Emir Sacree provide his fourth winner.
