Danso, who joined from FC Augsburg in August 2021, was heavily linked with Serie A champions Napoli following a strong campaign with the French league runners-up. The Parthenopeans had identified Danso as Kim Min-jae’s successor after the South Korean ‘monster’ joined Bayern Munich.
However, they need to look elsewhere with Danso off the market, Lens meanwhile seemingly appeared to mock Napoli in a video posted on social media celebrating his contract extension. While not mentioned by name, it was clear Napoli was the intended target of Lens; from ‘Ciao Kevin’, background images of pizza and pasta, and the boot of Italy kicking the phone back in France’s direction.
