    Karim Benzema Real Madrid records: Seven records Los Blancos star could break in the Champions League final

    Whichever way you look at it, Karim Benzema is one of the best strikers in world football and looks set to continue to lead the way for Real Madrid. This weekend will mark his fifth Champions League final and he’s on course to break numerous records. 

    Despite having over 300 senior goals to his name, Benzema is sometimes overlooked when it comes to the top strikers in the world but this season, in a campaign where he’s been the figure head for Madrid, some respect is finally being put on the Frenchman’s name.

    It’s been an incredible season for Benzema, with 49 goals in 52 appearances in all competitions for club and country, and the 34 year old seems to be getting better with age with there being an improvement in his goalscoring numbers in each of the last three seasons. It’s culminated in his best goalscoring season yet and he’ll be hoping to improve further this weekend and make it at least 50 for the season.

    Karim Benzema has been directly involved in 59 goals in 45 games for Real Madrid across all competitions in 2021/22 and a goal in the Champions League Final would be the crowning moment of an incredible season. Here are 7 records King Karim is chasing in Paris…

    Benzema would join an elite group of strikers if he does manage to net this weekend. Only four players have been able to score in the Group Stages, Last 16, Quarter Final, Semi Final and Final of the same Champions League campaign.

    Neymar is the only man in history to have scored in both legs of a quarter final, both legs of a semi final and the final itself in a single campaign when he achieved the feat in the 2014/15 season.     Benzema has netted 15 times in the Champions League so far this season, a fantastic return already but he’ll be hoping to find the net in the showpiece final two. He currently sits in joint third for the amount of goals scored in a single campaign:

    It’s not just been goals that Benzema has contributed to the team this season, he’s been involved in setting them up too.     No player has ever scored three hat tricks in a single Champions League knockout stage but Benzema is mighty close to being the first man to do so:

    Three goal against Liverpool this weekend would not only see him smash one record out of the park but two. He’d also become the first player to score a hat trick in the Champions League final….ever!
