Juventus vs Udinese build-up, previous line-ups & injury news:

A 12-match unbeaten run came to an end for Juventus when they were humbled 0-3 at home by a struggling Fiorentina side. Pirlo’s men had gone into that game having won three of their previous four Serie A matches and that loss to La Viola was Juve’s first at home this season. Inconsistent results — the Old Lady haven’t been able to string three league wins together — leaves the champions in sixth place and 10 points behind leaders Milan, albeit they’ve played a game less.

Udinese are seeking a return to winning ways themselves having now picked up two points from the last nine available. They’ve been performing reasonably well on the road lately, even going to Juve’s city rivals and taking all three points (2-3 v Torino). In fact, they’ve only tasted defeat in two away games this season: narrow setbacks at Hellas Verona (1-0) and Fiorentina (3-2).

  • Juventus (vs Fiorentina): Szczesny; Cuadrado*, Bonucci, De Ligt, Sandro; Ramsey, McKennie, Bentancur, Chiesa; Ronaldo, Morata.
  • Udinese (vs Benevento): Musso; Rodrigo, Samir, Bonifazi; Stryger Larsen, Pereyra, Arslan, De Paul, Zeegelaar; Lasagna, Pussetto.

Juan Cuadrado sits this game out after being shown a straight red against Fiorentina last time out.

Udinese, meanwhile, cannot call upon the following players: Gerard Deulofeu (foot), Thomas Ouwejan (physical discomfort), Stefano Okaka (thigh), Bram Nuytinck (calf), Mato Jajalo (meniscus) and Sebastian Prödl, while Rodrigo Becão is suspended.

Players to watch:

Juventus: It’s hard to see Cristiano Ronaldo not being pivotal in Juve getting back on track. He’s been nothing short of amazing this season and like Zlatan Ibrahimovic, continues to get better with age. 2021 will be the 20th calendar year of Ronaldo’s career and he’s previously netted in six of those 19 opening matches; including a stunning hat-trick against Cagliari in 2020, If he does score at Udinese’s expense — which the Portuguese forward has done on two past appearances — then Ronaldo will have netted his 20th goal of the season for club and country, meaning he’s reached this particular milestone for the 15th consecutive season.

Udinese: The visitors can take comfort knowing Juve are not exactly invincible this season. Fiorentina leaving Turin with all three points, even if they had a man extra for much of that game, is something they can hang their hat on. But they need to still perform and someone who can play a key role is midfielder, Rodrigo De Paul, who has become somewhat talismanic for them. To date, he’s been involved in 44% of Udinese’s shots in Serie A this season (30 shots and 33 chances created from 150 shots).
