Juventus and Inter Milan meet for a 237th time in the Derby d’Italia on Sunday.

Maurizio Sarri’s men can deal a knockout blow to Inter’s title aspirations with victory as six points currently separate them atop of the Serie A championship, albeit having played a game more.

The Nerazzurri presently sit in third with Lazio sandwiched between them and league leaders Juve who are reeling following their Champions League round-of-16 first leg defeat at Lyon.

Ones to watch

Juventus: Giorgio Chiellini

Juventus supporters were ecstatic when their captain and leader Giorgio Chiellini returned from a cruciate knee injury in their 2-0 win over Brescia earlier this month.

He subsequently started against SPAL the following week, but wouldn’t complete the full 90 minutes. Expect that to change against Inter and the Old Lady will need him at his best when facing an in-form Romelu Lukaku.

Key stat: Giorgio Chiellini has lost just one of his 15 home games against Inter Milan in all competitions.

Inter Milan: Christian Eriksen

It’s fair to say Christian Eriksen has yet to fully hit his stride in an Inter jersey following his move from Tottenham Hotspur last month.

But as each week passes by, Antonio Conte is starting to see the footballer that he marvelled from afar whilst coaching Chelsea and, playing in a ‘number ten’ role behind the Nerazzurri’s impressive forward line, expect Eriksen to be pulling the strings as Inter seek a rare away win against their bitter rivals.

Key stat: Christian Eriksen scored in his only previous match at the Allianz Stadium against Juventus.

Team news

Giorgio Chiellini should begin the game in Juve’s defence meaning Matthijs de Ligt makes way. Merih Demiral and Douglas Costa are both out and Maurizio Sarri is expected to continue with midfielders Miralem Pjanic and Rodrigo Bentancur.

Meanwhile Aaron Ramsey could also return to the starting line-up after a substitute appearance against Lyon.

Predicted XI: Szczęsny; Cuadrado, Bonucci, Chiellini, Sandro; Matuidi, Pjanic, Bentancur; Ramsey; Ronaldo, Dybala.

Inter Milan

Samir Handanović is set to undergo a late fitness test to see whether he’s ready to keep goal against the Italian champions. Daniele Padelli is ready and waiting in case he doesn’t make it, as he has in previous matches.

Christian Eriksen should start here behind Inter’s devastating attacking duo Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martínez.

Predicted XI: Padelli; Young, Godin, De Vrij, Skriniar; Barella, Brozovic, Candreva; Eriksen; Lukaku, Martinez.

Squawka prediction

This should be a closely fought game and could go either way. Juve are smarting after their 1-0 loss at Lyon in the Champions League but will no doubt be amped when Inter come to town.

The visitors meanwhile are seeking revenge after falling to a 2-1 home defeat to the Old Lady in October, but the Serie A leaders are imperious at home so expect another slender with for them.

Scoreline prediction: Juventus 2-1 Inter Milan
