Match prediction: Titans too strong for Royal Challengers
Royal Challengers Bangalore know come into this match needing a win against Gujarat Titans to stand a chance of making the playoffs. Their place in the top four looked secure, but a win for Dehli Capitals against Punjab Kings has taken the advantage away from RCB.
It’s the toughest game possible for Bangalore, with Gujarat Titans already assured of finishing top of the league. They have the best net run rate in the league, whilst Shubman Gill has topped 400 runs so far in the campaign. Mohammad Shami has also been prolific on the bowling side of things, taking 18 wickets in 13 games.
The Titans won’t have it all their own way however, with Royal Challengers possessing some quality on both sides of the field. Faf du Plessis has excelled this season and sits just one run from 400. Wanindu Hasaranga will be hoping to keep up his impressive form, with the Sri Lankan all rounder taking 23 wickets and sitting second in the race for the Purple Cap (IPL’s leading wicket-taker).
Gujarat Titans should have too much for their opponents though and will be keen to end the regular season on a high with another win. A comprehensive victory for the Titans could be on the cards, leaving Royal Challengers outside the playoffs for the first time since 2019.
