Match prediction: Titans to come out on top in close encounter
The IPL playoffs kick off in style on Tuesday when the two sides that finished first and second in the group stage square off, with the winner claiming a place in the final.
Gujarat Titans won the league with relative ease, winning 10 of their 14 games and ending up with a net run rate of 0.316, the highest in the league. This is in no small part to the partnership struck up between Hardik Pandya and Shubman Gill, with both notching up over 400 runs over the course of the season.
Rajasthan Royals are certainly no slouches though, finishing second in the league and being the highest run scorers in the competition so far, amassing over 100 runs more than their nearest rivals. Jos Buttler has been the biggest contributor to this, scoring 629 runs and leading the race for the Orange Cap this season.
A tight game looks to be on the cards here and we can see both sides posting big scores as they attempt to make it to the final, scheduled for Sunday 29 May. The Titans should have a little too much for their opponents though, with their batting depth appearing to be much stronger but it’s sure to be another classic encounter in an exciting IPL season.
