The win moved Milan to within one point of Inter atop the table.

Claim HereInter Milan
Samir Handanovic – 5 – Didn’t have much to do during the game. Distinguished himself with a great save from Sandro Tonali in the first-half but undid all that hard work with a slow reacton for Giroud’s winner.
Milan Skriniar – 5 – Seemed to be in cruise control but was nowhere to be found as Milan scammed an equaliser with three strikers standing where Skriniar ought to have been. Lost his head a few times after that.
Stefan de Vrij – 5 – Spun like a top for Giroud’s game-winner. Baffling how he didn’t predict Giroud turning back onto his left.
Alessandro Bastoni – 7 – The best of the Inter back-line and the only one to not embarrass himself on the Milan goals.
Milan have won back-to-back away Serie A games against Inter for the first time since 2005:

Denzel Dumfries – 7 – Superb outlet down the right. Forced great saves out of Maignan and even scored a diabolically good header that was ruled out for an offside earlier in the move.
Nico Barella – 6 – Seemed to have Milan in a chokehold, only to let go when Arturo Vidal came on.
Marcelo Brozovic – 7 – Ever the metronome, he had the most touches and passes, misplacing just two of his 45 attempted!
Ivan Perisic – 7 – Opened the scoring with a deliciously deft volley and perhaps even more impressively whipped in a peach of a ball to the back-post for Dumfries’ Pelé-esque header. The latter was ruled out for offside, but was a great marker of his enduring quality. Defended superbly too with a team-high 3 interceptions.
Hakan Calhanoglu – 8 – Impeccable display from the ex-Milan man. Completely in control, with a team high 3 chances created and 3 tackles made. While he was on the field Inter looked like they were cruising to victory.
Lautaro Martinez – 5 – Kept relatively quiet despite Inter’s dominance.
Edin Dzeko – 5 – An impressive overall display but couldn’t find a way past Maignan.

Alexis Sanchez (for Lautaro 70′) – 6 – Worked hard and tried to make things happen but couldn’t impact the game.

AC Milan
Mike Maignan – 9 – A magnificent display from the Frenchman. For the first hour of the game it was essentially Inter vs Maignan, with the Frenchman even having to make a tackle outside his own box. That he conceded just once is absurd given the pressure he was under. His reaction save from Brozovic’s deflected shot was particularly incredible.
Davide Calabria – 7 – Solid assist for the game-winner.
Pierre Kalulu – 7 – An impressive display at the heart of the Milan defence. blocked a Dzeko shot with his face!
Alessio Romagnoli – 7 – Worked hard and didn’t give much away.
Theo Hernandez – 4 – As usual with Theo, he was a combination of the sublime and the ridiculous. Some of his defensive interventions and dribbles up the field were great. But then he got sent off late for a shocking tackle on Dumfries.
Ismael Bennacer – 7 – Kept the ball well, completing 44/48 passes, but didn’t push the tempo.
Sandro Tonali – 7 – A battling performance from the Milan man, winning 3/3 tackles and pulling a great save out of Handanovic.
Alexis Saelemaekers – 5 – No impact in the game.
Franck Kessie – 6 – Still getting used to his more advanced position. Elusive without being dangerous.
Rafael Leao – 6 – A bright display without ever really threatening Inter.
Olivier Giroud – 9 – The game-winner. Kept isolated for most of the game but never stopped foraging forward and when he had his chances, he took them with typically stunning panache. First goal was a classic back-stick Giroud finish, the second was a delicious spin and shot that left Inter’s defence looking awful. 10 years on from his incredible and improbably Ligue 1 title with Montpellier, Olivier Giroud is still winning games at the very highest level. One of the decade’s most underrated footballers.

Substitutes:
Junior Messias (for Saelemaekers 46′) – 6 – Had more of an impact, pushing Inter back.
Brahim Diaz (for Kessie 58′) – 7 – Changed the game. Showed much more comfort as a no. 10 than Kessie and it was his dribbling and cross that led to Milan’s opening goal and turned the game on a dime.
Rade Krunic (for Bennacer 80′) – n/a – Came on late.
