Court Philippe-Chatrier is braced for a tantalising showdown between Iga Swiatek and Coco Gauff, world number one vs the 23rd seed. Swiatek has made her first Grand Slam final since winning the French Open in 2020, while Gauff will be competing in her debut singles final at a major tournament this weekend.

Swiatek made light work of her semi-final match-up against Daria Kasatkina, winning in two sets to earn a 34th successive victory. The Polish right-hander is simply unstoppable at the minute. In fact, she has dropped just one set at the French Open this past fortnight, underlining her dominance.

Gauff meanwhile eliminated the unseeded Martina Trevisan in her penultimate fixture, becoming the youngest finalist at Roland-Garros since Kim Clijsters in 2001. The 18-year-old has risen to meteoric prominence since reaching the Fourth Round of Wimbledon at just 15 in 2019, and now she will look to consolidate her status as one of the game’s brightest prospects when she meets Swiatek on Parisian clay this weekend.
