Liverpool’s first signing of the 2020 January transfer window, Takumi Minamino, is through the door and ready to start his Anfield adventure.

The 24-year-old Japanese international should already be quite familiar to fans on the Kop, given that he scored and assisted during RB Salzburg’s 4-3 Champions League defeat to Liverpool back in October.

Minamino’s European meetings with Jurgen Klopp’s side certainly gave him an idea of just what to expect from his new teammates.

“From those games, I learned this team has such a high level of technique and intensity,” he told the club’s official website after signing.

“Their football is of such a high level and I did feel that they were the champions of the Champions League. Feeling that, it makes me feel even happier that I can play in this team. I’m really happy to be part of that team.”

Minamino’s arrival has been met with excitement and his name is sure to be bellowed out from the Anfield terraces soon enough but before that, just how to do you pronounce it?
