Hertha Berlin vs Hannover build-up & injury news:
Though the games were admittedly against lowly opposition, Hertha have enjoyed their pre-season exploits so far, beating Schwarz-Rot Neustadt by a ridiculous 16-0 scoreline before thrashing MSV Neuruppin 7-0. Last time out, Hertha beat Babelsberg 3-1.
But plying their trade in the 2. Bundesliga, Hannover will pose a much bigger test of Hertha’s capabilities — a test they’ll want to overcome to prove they can steer clear of the relegation battle this season after only finishing four points clear of the dropzone in 2020/21.
This is already Hannover’s fifth pre-season friendly of the summer, proving themselves a tough nut to crack after a recent 1-0 defeat to Arminia Bielefeld, which followed a 1-1 draw with Paderborn.
- Neither side has any injuries to report for this game.
- Dedryck Boyata is unlikely to feature as he continues to recover from Euro 2020.

Player to watch: Jhon Cordoba (Hertha Berlin)
Jhon Cordoba has already helped himself to nine goals in three appearances during pre-season and although they were against much weaker opposition, it’s form that is sure to inspire confidence as the new season approaches.
The Colombian forward was limited to just 21 Bundesliga appearances last season but still managed seven goals — a vital contribution to a team that only netted 41 times in 2020/21 and a big reason why Hertha stayed up.
But during his Koln days, Cordoba managed 20 and 13-goal league hauls and that’s the sort of form he’ll want to recapture in 2021/22 to ensure Hertha are fighting at the right end of the table.
