Thorgan Hazard transfer move from Borussia Monchengladbach to Dortmund confirmed

Borussia Monchengladbach have confirmed Thorgan Hazard has left the club for Borussia Dortmund.
The attacking midfielder becomes Dortmund’s second summer signing following the arrival of Germany left-back Nico Schulz from Hoffenheim.

Hazard spent five seasons at Monchengladbach, scoring 45 goals in 176 appearances across all competitions.
He initially joined the club on loan from from Chelsea, for whom he didn’t make a single senior appearance while his brother Eden was impressing in the first-team.
Monchengladbach made the loan deal permanent in the summer of 2015, but he has now decided to leave for Dortmund with one year remaining on his contract.

The 26-year-old was part of the Belgium squad that finished third at the 2018 World Cup in Russia, losing to France in the semi-finals but beating England in the third-place play-off.
He scored 10 goals and provided 11 assists in 33 Bundesliga appearances last season as Monchengladbach secured a fifth-place finish in the German top-flight.
Dortmund narrowly missed out on the title to Bayern Munich despite leading the champions by nine points at one stage of the campaign.
A Monchengladbach statement read: “Borussia wishes Thorgan Hazard all the best for his sporting future.”
