Getafe vs Elche build-up & previous line-ups:

After three consecutive La Liga seasons finishing eighth or higher, Getafe endured a tough campaign last time out. Pepe Bordalás’ men ultimately finished 15th, and four places above the relegation zone, with nine wins under their belt. Now under the leadership of Míchel they’ve started this season horribly. The Deep Blue Ones opened the season with back-to-back 1-0 losses against Valencia and Sevilla before suffering a 2-1 defeat at the Camp Nou to Barcelona ahead of the recent international break.

As for Elche, who have won just one of their nine away games against Getafe in all competitions (a 2-1 La Liga success in February 2000), they started this campaign with a goalless draw against Athletic Bilbao before suffering a 1-0 defeat to defending champions Atletico Madrid. In their final game before the international break, Elche would hold Sevilla to a 1-1 draw at Estadio Manuel Martínez Valero. Heading into this latest fixture, Los Franjiverde have lost 13 of their previous 18 away matches, with just one of those remaining matches ending in victory (1-3 at Cadiz in March 2021).

  • Getafe (vs Barcelona): Soria; Iglesias, Djené, Mitrovic, Olivera; Aleñá, Maksimovic, Arambarri, Jankto; Ramírez, Ünal.
  • Elche (vs Sevilla): Casilla; Verdú, González, Roco; Josan, Fidel, Marcone, Guti, Mojica; Benedetto, Boyé.

Player to watch: Sandro Ramírez (Getafe)

After going scoreless in their opening two matches Getafe finally got themselves on the board against Barcelona when Sandro Ramírez cancelled out Sergi Roberto’s early strike. But the Camp Nou visitors couldn’t hold on as Barça ran out 2-1 winners. Ramírez, a former La Masia graduate, can register in back-to-back La Liga games for the first time since May 2017 when he netted in four consecutive matches. It’s also worth noting back then he was being coached by Míchel whom he reunited with this summer.
