Gareth Bale’s golf debut: Pebble Beach Pro-Am Dates, format and tee times

The Welsh wizard of football, Gareth Bale, announced his retirement from that ball game this month, but he is readying himself to make his debut in a whole new sport.
Renowned in Madrid for his time on the golf course instead of perhaps on the training pitches, it seems that Bale is going to bring his talent to the fairways and greens at Pebble Beach in February.
It is important to state that, of course, Bale will be competing as an amateur at the famous pro-am event, and although we don’t know who his professional partner will be yet, it is sure to cause a stir when the information drops.
What is the Pebble Beach pro-am?
The Pebble Beach pro-am has been held since 1937 and in modern times has been played over three separate courses. This year’s edition will be played across Pebble Beach Golf Links, Spyglass Hill Golf Course, and Monterey Peninsula CC.
It is an official PGA Tour event with a 156-man professional field, however in this event all professionals are being partnered by amateurs who are also playing the same courses over the first three days. The lowest scoring 25 pairs will play the final Sunday and the lowest scoring 60 individual professionals will fight it out for the title.
Why is Gareth Bale playing and who with?
Bale is famous for his love of golf, indeed, he achieved a degree of infamy in 2019 when he was pictured on international duty with a banner saying “Wales. Golf. Madrid. In that order.” whilst contracted to Spanish football giants Real Madrid.
The 33-year-old has been paired with American Joseph Bramlett, who has a Fedex Cup ranking of 64. Bale will tee off in a group alongside Bramlett, Yahoo Founder Jerry Lang and his pro partner David Lingmerth at 4:30pm GMT on Thursday February 2 on the Spyglass Hill course.
He will take on the Monterey Peninsula course on Friday from 6:09pm, before taking to the fairways for the third time at 5:14pm at Pebble Beach.
