Barcelona have no intention of selling Frenkie de Jong this summer.

The 25-year-old Dutch midfielder has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United thus reuniting with former Ajax boss Erik ten Hag.

It was during the 2018/19 season, which saw De Godenzonen reach an unlikely Champions League semi-final berth, that attracted several European super clubs to De Jong with him ultimating choosing dream club Barça.

Since relocating to Spain he’s made no fewer than 137 appearances for the Catalan giants in all competitions subsequently registering 12 goals and creating 17 more. De Jong’s present deal at the Camp Nou expires in June 2026 but there’s increased speculation of him departing for United before next season.

However, as far as club president Joan Laporta is concerned, the Dutchman is not for sale despite reports of them preparing to move him on due to financial problems . “There are clubs that want him, not just United. We have no intention of selling him, he wants to stay,” he said.

“Frenkie is considered as one of the best midfielders in the world by all the experts. We are happy to have him.

“I’m going to do everything I can in my power so that Frenkie stays here, but there’s also a salary issue and that would have to be adjusted.”
