In short, this is a league where prodigious talent comes to the fore and keeps Europe’s big boys circling with covetous eyes.
Over the past two decades some of football’s most exalted athletes have donned the shirts of France’s top clubs. But, it wasn’t until PSG — aided by their vast wealth — gatecrashed the elite European bubble, that the very best emerging talent would opt to remain in Ligue 1.
More often than not, French football has be used as a stepping stone for the footballing gentry. PSG have now entered that conversation in the past 10 years.
But, that doesn’t mean the conveyor belt has stopped short or been put on the back-burner. As we’ve seen over the years and even now, Ligue 1 has a glut of world class talent and there are no signs of that slowing down.
