Wolves team news

Wolves have already played once under Lopetegui after be finally took charge following the pause of the Premier League, with a 2-2 draw against Birmingham City coming in a behind-closed-doors friendly. Now in a training camp in Marbella, Wolves’ non-World Cup players have been joined by Raul Jimenez who has returned following Mexico’s group stage exit.

However, Lopetegui will still be without Portugal trio Ruben Neves, Jose Sa and Matheus Nunes as they prepare for their quarter-final against Morocco on Saturday. Also unlikely to feature is Hwang Hee-chan, whose South Korea side were only recent knocked out by Brazil, so his return may come a little later.

Of those who have had time with Lopetegui, Nathan Collins says the ‘aura’ of the Spaniard has really impressed the squad. Collins told the official website: “The lads look up to him and respect him… but we need a reaction. We need to buy into him as a team.”

Empoli team news

Not one of the biggest teams in Italy, Empoli did not have a single player at the World Cup, so can be as full strength for this game as they wish to be. Serie A doesn’t return until January, so Empoli are embarking on three friendlies against teams from three different countries.

They opened their training with a 2-1 win over Sturm Graz on Monday thanks to goals from Sam Lammers and Ardian Ismajli.

Scoreline prediction: Wolves 1-1 Empoli
