Real Madrid are unbeaten in their last 20 La Liga matches, last falling to city rivals Atletico Madrid way back in September. During that time, they’ve twice beaten surprise challengers Girona, while Barcelona have continued to flounder and, as a result, Los Blancos have started to pull away in the title race. Carlo Ancelotti’s men are now six points clear of Girona at the top, with Barca another two points back, while there’s a massive 13 point-gap on Atletico Madrid.

This weekend, however, presents a tough test as Real Madrid travel to Valencia. Despite winning just one of their last four matches, Los Che remain ninth in the table and just six points off a Europa Conference League place, while they’ve lost just two of their 12 matches at the Mestalla so far this season. The last team to beat Valencia at home in the league was Real Sociedad 1-0 back in late September, with 18 out of a possible 24 points taken since. Madrid will need to ensure they’re on peak form to leave the Mestalla with all three points, keeping the door shut on Girona and Barcelona.

Scoreline prediction: Valencia 0-2 Real Madrid
