Spanish Super Cup live streams: How to watch the 2022/23 season online
It’s that time of year again with four sides travelling to Saudi Arabia to contest the 2022/23 Spanish Super Cup.
We’re now in the fourth edition of the Spanish Super Cup being a four-team format, with all but one of the tournaments being held in Saudi Arabia, in which the Copa del Rey and La Liga winners and runners-up contest for the crown.
Since the change in format, Real Madrid have taken the title twice, winning either side of Athletic Bilbao’s 2020/21 triumph and are the defending champions but overall they still trail Barcelona by one victory. Unsurprisingly, Barcelona and Real Madrid have dominated the Super Cup with 25 wins between them — 13 and 12 respectively — the next most-successful sides are Athletic Bilbao and Deportivo La Coruna with there wins each.
This year, the four teams are La Liga winners Real Madrid, runners-up Barcelona, Copa del Rey champions Real Betis and beaten finalists Valencia. As always, the Copa del Rey winners will take on the La Liga runners-up, while the La Liga champions face the Copa del Rey runners-up.
Real Madrid have already secured their spot in the final, beating Valencia on penalties, the first time a champion has been in the final since the re-formatting.
