Rivals Roma and Lazio face-off in a huge derby match at Stadio Olimpico with just one point separating the two sides in the table, in a fixture that has seen the home side come out victorious in each of the last four meetings between the two sides. Jose Mourinho’s men have lost only two of their last 24 Serie A games against Lazio as hosts (W14 D8): 1-2 in March 2012 and 1-3 in April 2017 – the Giallorossi have won four of their five most recent home games (D1).

In the era of three points for a win, the Rome derby has seen more red cards than any other fixture in Serie A (35). However, there’s been just one red in the most recent six meetings between the sides (Acerbi in May 2021).

It’s the battle of two former Chelsea managers in Jose Mourinho and Maurizio Sarri.

Roma team news

Jose Mourinho has a choice to make up front with Tammy Abraham struggling for goals this season, having found the net just twice from 32 shots in his 12 Serie A appearances. The former Chelsea man has under performed his xG by 4.01 this term, converting just 8% of his chances (excluding blocks) and hitting the target just 13 times, with Andrea Belotti waiting patiently for his chance after starting just two Serie A games so far in 2022/23,

Roma will once again be without top goalscorer Paulo Dybala, who has missed each of his side’s last six matches, while Leonardo Spinazzola has joined him on the treatment table after picking up a muscle injury against Verona.

Lazio team news

Lazio will be without two key players in Ciro Immobile (injury) and Sergej Miinkovic-Savic (suspension) when they face their fiercest of rivals on Sunday.

Sergej Miinkovic-Savic has been in fine form this season, scoring three goals and providing seven assists in his 12 league matches so far in 2022/23, with only Napoli’s Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (11) being directly involved in more goals than the Serbian (10) this term. It will be a huge miss for the Biancocelesti, with the midfielder only missing just one of the previous 50 matches played under Maurizio Sarri.

Felipe Anderson is expected to start as the false nine once more, while Pedro and Matti Zaccagni should join him in attack.
