Rennes vs West Ham match preview:

A pre-season battle between two sides set for the Europa League in 2023/24, Rennes and West Ham will be hoping to get an early feeler of where they may stand for the upcoming competition.

West Ham qualified for the Europa League by virtue of winning the Europa Conference League in what was an otherwise poor season for the Hammers, and now they must make do without Declan Rice who has left for Arsenal. Pre-season has been an interesting one for the Hammers who started with a London friendly against Boreham Wood before setting off to Australia. Down Under, West Ham beat Perth Glory and Tottenham before returning to England with a 2-2 draw against Dagenham & Redbridge which saw David Moyes field a mixture of youth and experience. Now, they travel to France to take on Rennes before ending pre-season in Germany against Bayer Leverkusen.

Rennes, meanwhile, qualified for the Europa League after finishing fourth in Ligue 1, making it into the group stage. Pre-season for the French side so far has seen them draw with US Concarneau before beating US Saint-Malo and Stade Brest, with a trio of English opponents to come. After taking on West Ham on Saturday, Rennes then face Nottingham Forest and Wolves in England, before returning for the start of the new Ligue 1 season.
