Both Real Madrid and Real Betis have started the 2022/23 season with three wins from three, with Los Blancos topping the table on goal difference.

Karim Benzema and Vinicius Junior have both started where they left off last season, with the pair being directly involved in seven goals between them in the league so far. Benzema has scored three goals in his first three games as well as providing an assist, while Vinicius Jr. has two goals and an assist as Real Madrid aim to make it back-to-back title wins.

After recording their best LaLiga finish since 2004/05 in 2021/22, Real Betis have made the perfect start to this campaign.

Manuel Pellegrini’s side have scored six goals and conceded just once in their opening three matches, with forwards Borja Iglesias (4) and Juanmi (2) scoring all of Betis’ goals so far this season.

Hopefully the goals will flow this time out, as the last three meetings between the two sides at the Bernabeu have finished goalless.

Real Madrid team news

Nacho Fernandez and Alvaro Odriozola are Madrid’s only real doubts to face Real Betis, with Rodrygo returning as second half substitute last time out against Espanyol after his muscle injury. And the Brazilian starts in the front three alongside Benzema and Vinicius.

Carlo Ancelotti’s has confirmed that Eden Hazard will be a lot more involved in 2022/23 after making just seven starts in their title winning season last term.

“He’s fine and working well. He’ll have a bigger role to play than last year. You can’t make any assessment after only three games, we’ll have to do that at the end of the season”.

The Italian also spoke about Casemiro’s departure to Manchester United and who will replace him in the Madrid midfield: “The players show us the way according to their attributes. Camavinga played in that position last year and Kroos is extremely reliable. It will depend on how we approach the fixtures.

“If we have a game under control, Kroos can give us so much because he’s so clean with his passing. If there is less control in the game and we need energy, then for that we’ve got Camavinga and Tchouameni.

“Tchouameni has shown his quality. He’s a wonderful midfielder, highly focused on what he has to do and he’s been an incredible signing by the club. He’s young and he has to grow.

“Our squad is very strong in the middle of the park because we have a bit of everything. We’ve got the young lads, energy, quality, intelligence and positioning. We’re in great shape there but the difficult thing is choosing which three start a game.

“That said, it’s not too important because with the options we have in midfield, we can switch our game up at any time”.

Tchouameni starts in midfield alongside Camavinga and Modric.

Real Betis team news

German Pezzella misses out through suspension after his red card last time out against Osasuna with Luiz Felipe replacing him, while Martin Montoya and Victor Camarasa remain out. Sergio Canales has his first start after making just one substitute appearance so far this season, but Nabil Fekir, Juanmi and Borja Iglesias are all untouchable in Betis’ attack.

Scoreline prediction: Real Madrid 2-1 Real Betis
