After winning last season’s La Liga and Champions League titles, Real Madrid have been active in the summer transfer window. Aurélien Tchouameni and Antonio Rüdiger have joined from Monaco and Chelsea respectively, and the pair will be seeking to make their Los Blancos debut on Wednesday evening. Carlo Ancelotti — who said goodbye to Borja Mayoral, Luka Jović, Isco, Marcelo and Gareth Bale — has no major injury concerns and will still look to skipper Karim Benzema for the bulk of Real’s goals this season.

Heading into their second season in Europe’s top club tournament (reaching the final in 1959/60 when they were beaten 7-3 by Real Madrid) Frankfurt signed up to eight new players most notably Mario Götze, however, they were unable to start the new Bundesliga season on a positive note as they were humbled 6-1 by Bayern Munich at home. Oliver Glasner, who goes into this game without defenders Jérôme Onguéné and Aurélio Buta, will be cautious of a repeat performance against Real. Frankfurt, in turn, will aim to become the second German club to win Uefa’s Super Cup after Bayern.
