PSV Eindhoven and Bodo/Glimt go head-to-head in a Europa League showdown at the Philips Stadion this evening (5:45pm, UK time).

This will be the first competitive meeting between these sides. PSV are unbeaten in eight meetings against Norwegian opposition (five wins and three draws) since losing their first ever such game in October 1996 against Brann.

As for Bodo/Glimt they will meet Dutch opposition for the second time in European competition, eliminating AZ over two legs in the last 16 of the Europa Conference League last season, before suffering elimination at the hands of eventual champions Roma in the following round.

PSV Eindhoven team news

Following a disappointing Champions League qualification campaign PSV will be looking to get off to a winning start in Europa League, a competition they’ve won once before. Ruud van Nistelrooy’s men, though, come into this game on the back of a 2-1 loss to Twente and without several players through injury. Olivier Boscagli, Mauro Júnior, Fredrik Oppegard, Noni Madueke and Luuk de Jong are sidelined. Xavi Simons is expected to play a ‘false nine’ role in De Jong’s absence. The former Barcelona academy star has so far bagged seven goals and created two more in eight appearances since moving from Paris Saint-Germain this summer.

Bodo/Glimt team news

The surprise package of last season’s UEFA Conference League tournament. A number of players have since left and head coach Kjetil Knutsen is tasked with producing another deep run in Europe, he comes into the clash in Eindhoven missing only central midfielder from his matchday squad. Momentum isn’t on their side as the Norwegian outfit have won just one of their last four matches (which includes two losses) in all competitions. Knutsen could make several changes from his most recent lineup with the likes of Albert Grönbaek and Runar Espejord both pushing for starts.

Scoreline prediction: PSV Eindhoven 3-1 Bodo/Glimt
