The current complexion of Group A2 sees Portugal leading the charge heading into this week’s concluding fixture. The inaugural Nations League winners, though, are only two points ahead of Spain. The permutations, hence, are relatively straightforward: a win for either nation would guarantee first and a chance to compete in the final four.

Portugal team news

With an eye of the fast-approaching World Cup, Fernando Santos will also be using this opportunity to assess his current squad. The Euro 2016-winning coach was unable to call upon veteran vice-captain Pepe or Borussia Dortmund’s Raphael Guerreiro, both of whom are injured. That meant Napoli’s Mario Rui slotted in on the left-hand side of defence in their 4-0 win over Czech Republic, while Danilo Pereira and Ruben Dias formed a now-familiar centre-back partnership.

Spain team news

Despite falling down the Barcelona pecking order, Luis Enrique stuck with his guns by deploying Jordi Alba against Switzerland. And the seasoned full-back vindicated his selection by getting on the scoresheet, though La Roja ultimately fell to a 2-1 reversal. Nico Williams and Borja Iglesias both came off the bench for their international debuts, and will be looking to add a further cap here. Meanwhile, Alvaro Morata and Rodri were both unused substitutes in that defeat to the Swiss, but Enrique may be tempted to undergo a reshuffle here after that limp performance in Zaragoza.
