When is Porto vs Cardiff City? Kick-off time, referee, TV channel info and live streaming

Porto and Cardiff meet for a pre-season friendly this weekend as Erol Bulut continues preparations for his first season in English football.

The former Fenerbahce and Gaziantep head coach is set to experience his first stint of management outside of Turkey. It’s a huge gamble from Cardiff following a tumultuous 2022/23 campaign, but the makers and shakers upstairs clearly feel they’ve landed upon the right man to mount a promotion push.

So far, he has enjoyed pre-season wins over Penybont, The New Saints and Bristol Rovers, but this weekend’s match-up will be a real litmus test. Porto are European royalty and Champions League regulars, and Sergio Conceicao will be eager to see his side perform well against the second-tier English club.

Porto team news

Fran Navarro has been Porto’s only piece of business so far this summer. The 25-year-old Spaniard has joined from Gil Vicente following two tremendous scoring seasons. He relocated to Barcelos from Valencia in 2021 and managed to bag 21 goals in all competitions last term.

Cardiff City team news

Dimitrios Goutas was Bulut’s first summer signing, bringing the tall Greek defender in from Turkish club Sivasspor. The acquisitions of Yakou Meite and Freddie Cook have since followed, but the big one, of course, is Aaron Ramsey from Nice, who returns to his boyhood club 15 years after leaving for Arsenal in 2008.
