We’re in the fourth gameweek of the 2022/23 Champions League group stage and teams are beginning to secure their spots in the knockout stages, if they have started the season well enough. Napoli are one of the teams able to qualify in this week having won all three of their opening matches, beating Liverpool, Rangers and Ajax.
They have been emphatic victories too, beating Liverpool 4-1 and Ajax 6-1 last time out, with a 3-0 win over Rangers. It’s been part of an excellent start to the campaign for Luciana Spaletti’s side, who are also top of the Serie A table, two points clear of second-placed Atalanta and still unbeaten.
As things stand Ajax are in the Europa League position of Group A with one win from their three games, beating Rangers 4-0 in their opening match, but that has been the peak of their Champions League campaign. After losing late against Liverpool at Anfield, Ajax were thrashed by Napoli and have to win here to even have a chance to qualifying for the last 16 of the Champions League.
In the Eredivisie, Ajax are second, one point behind AZ Alkmaar after suffering a 2-1 defeat to the early leaders before the international break and following that up by drawing with Go Ahead Eagles. But Alfred Schreuder ended their three-match winless streak at the weekend with a 4-2 win over FC Volendam.

Piotr Zielinski came off the bench against Cremonese at the weekend after an injury scare and will be hoping to play a more prominent role in midweek. Victor Osimhen is also available for Napoli, with Spaletti confirming he is ready to play. Amir Rrahmani is a doubt.
Dusan Tadic will be unavailable for Ajax after his red card in the game last week, while Jorge Sanchez and Ahmetcan Kaplan are also absent due to injury.
