Manchester City and Tottenham have both taken 14 points from their opening six games in the Premier League this season, with the winner of this match heading to the top of the table, until Sunday afternoon at least.

City have won each of their last seven Premier League games at the Etihad, scoring 30 goals in total and finding the net at least three times in every game. However, Spurs have been Pep Guardiola’s bogey side in recent seasons, winning four of the last five matches between the two sides and were the only team to do the league double over the champions in 2021/22.

Antonio Conte has won 60% of his managerial duels with Pep, the highest ratio of any manager to face him at least five times, while Spurs could become the first ever side to win three consecutive league games against a side managed by the Spaniard.

Manchester City team news

Aymeric Laporte remains out for the champions after having knee surgery in the summer, while defenders Kyle Walker and John Stones are both doubts after suffering muscle injuries, so summer signings Sergio Gomez and Manuel Akanji should both keep their places in the side.

Ilkay Gundogan was rested in midweek and will be hoping to come straight back into the side, while Bernardo Silva, Jack Grealish, Phil Foden and Riyad Mahrez will fight out with Julian Avarez for the two spots out wide.

Erling Haaland is in undroppable form, having scored 12 times in just seven Premier League and Champions League appearances for his new side, already forming a terrific partnership with Kevin De Bruyne. The Belgian has already assisted his new forward three times across all competitions and they are only going to get better.

Tottenham team news

Richarlison scored twice on his Champions League debut against Marseille on Wednesday and is expected to keep his place in the side after an impressive performance against the French side. It will be tough choice for Antonio Conte on who will miss out from the front three, but we could see Son Heung-min rested after some below par performances this term.

Lucas Moura is definitely out for Spurs, while Antonio Conte has the choice to whether Clement Lenglet and Ivan Perisic keep their places from Wednesday’s UCL win, or whether Ben Davies or Ryan Sessegnon will come into the starting XI.

Tottenham came away with a 2-0 win after a tough encounter against Marseille in their first Champions League game of the season on Wednesday and Antonio Conte enjoyed the victoy, especially as it was over one of his former teammates.

“I’ve known him (Igor Tudor) a long time. He’s a really good guy, a strong person, also, as a player, he was really strong. The last time I saw him was when he was assistant coach at Juventus with Andrea Pirlo. He’s a good friend. Sometimes, we message on the phone.

“Football… the time is going so fast. We’re not so young. It means this, because when you start to see on the bench your old team-mates, players who were in your team, it means you are becoming old!

“I am really happy to see him on the bench in an important club in Europe like Marseille. He did very well last season in Verona and yeah, he’s doing a really good job.”

Igor also had a lot of nice things to say about Antonio.

“Antonio I know him as a human being, as a person. When I came to Juventus I was only 20 and I found a dressing room with players like him [Ciro] Ferrara, [Paolo] Montero, [Alessandro] Del Piero. Players who have value, not only as player but a person. He was one of guys who was always exemplary, not by speaking but by his behaviour. In the end the best way to look is behaving the right way.

“When I started to try to be a coach he was there at Juventus, first time he was there. He permitted me to see all the training one week and I learnt a lot from him. Now he’s one of the best in the world. ”

Scoreline prediction: Manchester City 2-2 Tottenham
