Manchester City play host to Copenhagen in the Champions League on Wednesday night fresh from dismantling rivals Manchester United on Sunday (8pm kick-off, UK time).
Pep Guardiola’s men have been in formidable form both in the Premier League and in Europe, recently triumphing in the latest Manchester Derby 6-3, while they are on a two-game winning streak in the Champions League. Having claimed the scalps of both Borussia Dortmund and Sevilla, the English champions currently sit atop Group G, making this a very ominous prospect for Copenhagen.

Man City team news
Rodri and John Stones both sat out of Sunday’s Manchester Derby, with the latter picking up an injury in England’s 3-3 draw against Germany at Wembley last week. Both are doubtful for Wednesday’s clash, with Kyle Walker joining them in that category after going off injured against Man Utd, opening the door for his replacement on the day, Sergio Gomez, to seal a starting position. Kalvin Phillips is Guardiola’s only other absentee, with the English midfielder currently nursing a shoulder complication.
FC Copenhagen team news
Akinkunmi Amoo ruptured his knee last month and is now expected to miss the rest of the season, meaning Ajax loanee and academy product Mohamed Daramy is set to retain his berth on the flank. Captain Zeca suffered a similar injury to Amoo earlier this month and is also set to miss the entirety of 2022/23 in a major blow to Copenhagen’s aspirations, while Mamoudou Karamoko is not expected back until at least November.
Scoreline prediction: Man City 3-0 FC Copenhagen
