Liverpool team news

Ibrahima Konate is the only Liverpool player still in the World Cup, but that doesn’t mean the Reds have a full squad from which to choose. Jordan Henderson has travelled to Dubai after England’s exit but it was more of a friendly visit than a return to training. Darwin Nunez, however, returned to training after Uruguay were knocked out of the group stage and could feature.

Harvey Elliott suffered a knock in the defeat to Lyon but should be okay to play a role against AC Milan. However, there has been a setback for Luis Diaz on his potential return from a long injury layoff, with the Colombian expected out for another three months after undergoing knee surgery. Arthur and Diogo Jota are also still out.

AC Milan team news

AC Milan have two players at the World Cup still, Konate’s compatriots Olivier Giroud and Theo Hernandez. But they will also be without Rafael Leao whose exit with Portugal came too late for him to get a chance to link up with his clubmates.

There was also no Fode Ballo-Toure, Sergino Dest, Simon Kjaer or Charles De Ketelaere in the defeat to Arsenal, but the latter has linked up with the squad and could feature at some stage against Liverpool. Kjaer also recently returned but only completed a personalised training session.

Scoreline prediction: Liverpool 1-1 AC Milan
