It has not been a good season so far for Juventus, particularly in the Champions League. The Italian side are yet to pick up a point from their opening two matches, form that has seen Massimiliano Allegri’s future put in doubt, as they also struggle for consistency in Serie A. In their opening Champions League game Juventus suffered defeat to PSG as was perhaps to be expected but they did not bounce back as many had thought they would, also losing to Benfica.

Juventus are only above Maccabi Haifa on goal difference, with the Israeli side also losing both of their opening matches. This was to be expected, however, with Maccabi Haifa quite clearly the minnows of the group alongside PSG, Juventus and Benfica. After losing 2-0 to Benfica in their opening match, Maccabi Haifa did actually take the lead in their game against PSG, with Tjaronn Chery scoring the club’s first Champions League goal in almost 20 years. However, they ultimately lost with Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe and Neymar all finding the net in a 3-1 victory for PSG.

Juventus v Maccabi Haifa: Match Stats

Dusan Vlahovic burst onto the scene in the Champions League last season, scoring just 33 seconds into his debut for Juventus against Villarreal. However, he has not scored in the three games since, all of which Juventus have lost. But that could end this week with Maccabi Haifa conceding 30 shots in their two Champions League games so far this season.

Maccabi Haifa may have scored against PSG last time out but the Israeli side have lost their last eight Champions League matches by an aggregate score of 13-1 and have never won away from home in the competition.

Juventus v Maccabi Haifa: Team news

Paul Pogba remains out for Juventus and isn’t expected back for a while after undergoing surgery on a knee injury. The Frenchman is joined on the sidelines by Federico Chiesa, but the Italian has returned to partial training following a knee injury of his own suffered in January. While Wednesday’s game will certainly be too soon, as will the return fixture, it is hoped that Chiesa will be back playing for Juventus by the end of the month.

Maccabi Haifa have just the one injury concern ahead of their trip to Italy, with Suf Podgoreanu (on loan from Spezia) picking up a foot injury just 11 minutes into his debut for the Israeli side against Benfica.
