Although it looks like they’ll relinquish their title, it’s been another strong season for Feyenoord. The Rotterdam side sit second in the Eredivisie table with just two defeats from 28 games, accumulating 66 points so far. That’s enough to leave them six points clear of FC Twente in third with a game in hand and 14 ahead of AZ, with another reason in the Champions League all but assured. Of course, Feyenoord are still well behind runaway leaders PSV and can only cut their lead at the summit to nine points if they win this game in hand, though they won’t quite be giving up on the title just yet.

As for Ajax, they’ve endured a miserable campaign by their own lofty standards. The 36-time champions are currently languishing in fifth, seven points adrift of the Europa League spots, never mind the 15 points that separate them from the Champions League places. Ajax are unbeaten in their last five Eredivisie matches, but three of them have been draws, most recently a disappointing 1-1 at home to Go Ahead Eagles in which they threw the lead away in the 92nd minute.

Scoreline prediction: Feyenoord 3-1 Ajax
