The 2023 Copa Libertadores has reached the Round of 16 and we’re starting to get a clearer picture of who will be battling for dominance in South America.

Defending champions Flamengo have made a pretty modest start to this season’s competition, winning just three of their opening five matches, but they’ve advanced into the knockout stages alongside Group A winners Argentine side Racing Club.

Elsewhere, regional giants River Plate finished second in Group D and managed to make it through after a poor start, with Fluminense topping that mini-table. Corinthians are already out, while Paraguayan powerhouse Olimpia went unbeaten as Group H winners with 14 points.

Brazilian duo Athletico Paranaense and Atletico Mineiro are also through, with Alianza Lima crashing out at the bottom of Group G.
