The Clarets drew their first game post-Sean Dyche at the weekend but that did them no good as they look to climb out of the relegation zone, still four points behind 17th-placed Everton who rescued a late draw against Leicester on Wednesday night. Southampton, meanwhile, all but secured their spot in next season’s Premier League thanks to their 1-0 win over Arsenal at the weekend, moving them 14 points clear of Burnley.

As well as the lost lead against West Ham, Burnley also suffered a major blow with Ashley Westwood suffering a serious ankle injury. Interim boss Mike Jackson revealed that Westwood will meet with a surgeon on Wednesday to determine how bad the injury is, though he naturally won’t be expected back any time soon. Ben Mee has also been ruled out as a player so should continue in his coaching role, while Johann Berg Gudmundsson and Erik Pieters will miss out once again.

Alex McCarthy is back in training for Southampton but even if he is at full fitness, Fraser Forster will retain his spot between the sticks having been a forcefield in the Saints net in recent weeks. Ralph Hasenhuttl otherwise has no injury concerns, a great thing to have going into the final weeks of the Premier League season as Southampton look to mathematically secure their safety as soon as possible.
