Burnley vs Fleetwood takes place on Wednesday at 7.30pm (UK time).

Premier League promotion-chasers Burnley welcome fellow Lancashire club Fleetwood to the Turf Moor in midweek for a chance to make the FA Cup quarter-finals. At this point, the top flight beckons for Vincent Kompany’s Clarets, who boast a 19-point cushion ahead of third-placed Middlesbrough in the Championship, so the former Man City captain will be putting all of his energy into this showdown.

Burnley team news

Jay Rodriguez has missed the past six matches for Burnley and remains sidelined for this showdown, so Kompany will be turning to top scorer Nathan Tella for final-third inspiration. Ian Maatsen is also expected to miss out after going off injured at the weekend with a shoulder issue, opening the door for Charlie Taylor to start at left-back. Taylor Harwood-Bellis, Benson Manuel and Darko Churlinov are Kompany’s only other concerns.

Fleetwood team news

Former Celtic captain Scott Brown — who now has the reins at the Highbury Stadium — will be unable to call upon Jayden Stockley, who is cup-tied having featured in the competition for Charlton earlier this season. That is also the case for Jack Marriott, who played in three FA Cup matches for Peterborough United before his January switch to Fleetwood.
