Brentford team news
Thomas Frank is sweating over the fitness of Ivan Toney after their leading marksman came off in Brentford’s win over West Ham with a suspected knee problem.
“Of course, it didn’t look great, but I’ve also been in this game long enough to know that you never know exactly what it is until it’s been assessed over the following days,” Frank said. “Hopefully it’s a minor injury, a minor thing, there’s a good chance for that, but of course, it could be worse. We don’t know yet.”
If he does miss the Liverpool clash then Toney will keep Kristoffer Ajer, Shandon Baptiste and Aaron Hickey company in the physio room. Yoane Wissa is an option to deputise for Toney while Frank Onyeka and Thomas Strakosha are both pushing for starts.
Liverpool team news
Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota remain long-term absentees for the Reds while they could be missing Harvey Elliott and Andrew Robertson on Monday evening. Both were unable to finish their recent showdown with Leicester, a game that saw Liverpool win despite none of their players finding the net. Konstantinos Tsimikas and Stefan Bajcetic could subsequently find themselves in Liverpool’s starting lineup though Naby Keita is another option to come into Jurgen Klopp’s midfield alongside Thiago and Jordan Henderson.
