The quest continues for PSG as they search for that elusive first European trophy, with every passing season deemed underwhelming as they build their squad to no continental success. But they have started the 2022/23 journey in a positive manner, sitting top of their group after two matches. The first saw them take on Juventus in what many believed would help decide who finishes top, and PSG emerged with a 2-1 victory. They later built on that by beating Maccabi Haifa 3-1, coming from behind in Israel.
When the draw was made many will have looked at Benfica as a guarantee for the Europa League spot but the Portuguese side are staking their claim to reach the last 16 of the Champions League and even potentially winning the group. Like PSG, Benfica are perfect after two matches of Group H, opening with a 2-0 win over Maccabi Haifa before coming from behind to beat Juventus 2-1 in Turin.
