On Friday night (7:45pm UK) in Munich, EuroLeague favorites FC Barcelona look to close their out their quarterfinal against Bayern Munich, in Game 4 of the best-of-five series.

Ten days ago, eight of European basketball’s top teams kick off four best-of-five playoff series that to determine the participants in the single-elimination 2022 EuroLeague Final Four and Championship Game, which will take place on May 19 and 21 in Belgrade.

Two teams – #4 seed Real Madrid (who swept #5 Maccabi Tel Aviv) and #6 Anadolu Efes (who took three of four from #3 seed Olimpia Milano) – have already booked their tickets for Belgrade. The final four may get rounded out on Friday night, provided #2 Olympiacos can secure a win in Monaco. And, of course, provided top-seeded Barcelona can topple Bayern once again in Munich.

Sarunas Jasikevicius’ Barça side entered the EuroLeague Playoffs as heavy 3/2 (or +150) favorites to win the competition. The two-time EuroLeague champions and last year’s runners-up remain the favorites, though they have made life a bit tougher than it needs to be against a side that only gained entry into the competition with the expulsion of three Russian sides prior to the tournament .

Nonetheless, Barcelona are still trying to cap off a phenomenal season, though the winners 24 of 32 games during the EuroLeague regular season and presumptive Spanish league champions (4 points up on Real Madrid, with 4 to play) had eased off the gas in recent weeks, and struggled to regain peak form – case in point the shock 15-point home loss against Bayern in Game 2 after an easy win in the series opener.

This dip in form, though somewhat understandable – not only is there is a natural tendency to ease up after reaching a goal, Barça were prioritizing rest and recovery in preparation for these playoffs – still must must be arrested. Given their experience, professionalism and track record of success – to say nothing of the rather slim margin for error come playoff time – you’d expect Barça to lock right back in, particularly on defense, as they did last time pit against tonight’s German opponents.

FC Barcelona predicted starting lineup: Nick Calathes, Kyle Kuric, Cory Higgins, Brandon Davies, Nikola Mirotic

Bayern Munich predicted starting lineup: Deshaun Thomas, Corey Walden, Vladimir Lucic, Augustine Rubit, Darrun Hilliard
