The second friendly between New Zealand and Australia this month gets underway on Sunday in Auckland (4am kick-off, UK time).
The Trans-Tasman rivalry renewed on Thursday as Australia ran out 1-0 victors in Brisbane, with Awer Mabil netting the match-winner half-an-hour into the contest. Attention now turns to Auckland, with Graham Arnold’s Socceroos really looking to ramp up the intensity ahead of the nation’s appearance at the World Cup later this year.

New Zealand team news
Danny Hay may be tempted to restore captain Winston Reid to the starting XI after he sat out of the first game earlier this week. The 34-year-old has been without a club since leaving West Ham last year, but will still be raring to go if given the opportunity. His experience at the highest level and aggression could be just what is required to lock down the backline. Newcastle’s Chris Wood and Torino’s Matthew Garbett will also be eyeing up another spot in the starting line-up to give the Kiwis a real shot at ending Australia’s current five-match winning run against them.
Australia team news
Before the international break, Graham Arnold called up a number of uncapped players as he looks to test the waters just before the World Cup. The likes of Harrison Delbridge, Ryan Strain, Cameron Devlin, Keanu Baccus, Tyrese Francois, Garang Kuol and Jason Cummings will all be looking to impress and earn that coveted seat on the plane to Qatar in November.
Scoreline prediction: New Zealand 1-2 Australia
