Alaves and Eibar will be hoping to secure their place in the Segunda Division play-off final when they face off on Thursday.

The regular Segunda Division season is over with Granada and Las Palmas securing their places in Spain’s top flight but there is one spot left for the play-off winners. One of the semi-finals sees fourth-placed Alaves take on fifth-placed Eibar, and both will have felt disappointed not to secure automatic promotion, finishing just one point behind Las Palmas in second – Alaves in particular as they drew with Las Palmas on the final day of the season.

As we go into the second leg this week, the tie remains evenly poised with the scores at 1-1 after Stoichkov cancelled out Mamadou Sylla’s opener for Alaves. In the other tie, Levante lead Albacete 3-1 after the first leg, so are the likely opponent in the final.
