Both Fiorentina and Cagliari will be looking for their fourth victory of the Serie A season when they meet at the Stadio Artemio Franchi on Sunday (5pm kick-off, UK time).

Fiorentina are no longer the solid Serie A team they used to be and, once again, are in danger of relegation. La Viola currently sit 14th in the table, just three points clear of the bottom three. It might be early days, but they really need to make some improvements if they are to maintain their Serie A status.

They have won just once in their last 10 games across all competitions and head into this clash on the back of a 2-1 defeat on the road at Lazio in midweek. Prior to the Lazio defeat, they were on a four-game unbeaten streak in the league, although three of those were draws. At home, Fiorentina are currently winless in five league games, but overall they have lost just two of their nine competitive games at the Stadio Artemio Franchi so far this season.

Cagliari have also won just three games in Serie A this season, but their recent form has been worse than Fiorentina’s. They are winless in nine league games going into the weekend and have lost the past three. In midweek, they were beaten 2-1 at home by Benevento, the third consecutive game in which they have conceded at least two goals.

However, despite the recent results there is just one point separating Cagliari and Fiorentina, so this could be a vital game for both sides. Away from home, Cagliari have won just once in their last 10 games and have conceded at least two goals in seven of those matches.

Can Fiorentina extend their unbeaten home streak in the Serie A to five games, or will Cagliari record their first league victory in two months?
