Fiorentina can end their relegation fears once and for all when they host Verona on Sunday at 6:30 PM.
Giuseppe Iachini’s side currently lie in the relatively comfortable 13th spot, eight points clear of the relegation zone. However, La Viola have taken just five points from their five games since returning to action and with seven games still remaining, they’ll be keen to get points on the board quickly to settle their nerves.
Getting past Verona will be no easy task, though. Ivan Juric’s men are ninth in the table and likely high on confidence having snatched a late 2-2 draw against Inter Milan in their last match.
The Yellow and Blues are still only eight points adrift of a Europa League qualification spot and while Roma, Napoli and AC Milan above them are much more fancied, Verona won’t be giving up the ghost of continental football just yet.

Fiorentina & Verona’s previous line-ups:
- Fiorentina (vs Cagliari): Dragowski; Caceres, Ceccherini, Milenkovic; Lirola, Duncan*, Badelj, Venuti; Chiesa, Vlahovic, Ribery.
- Verona (vs Inter Milan): Silvestri; Rrahmani, Kumbulla, Gunter; Faraoni, Amrabat, Veloso, Lazovic; Pessina, Stepinski, Dimarco.
Joseph Duncan will miss this fixture due to suspension while Iachini will also be without the injured Christian Kouame and Marco Benassi.
Juric has a fully fit squad to choose from, free of suspension, and will likely field the same starting XI which drew with Inter Milan last time out.
Player to watch: Franck Ribery (Fiorentina)
Rather than relying on an elite goalscorer, Fiorentina have had to share the goals around this season, with Dusan Vlahovic, Erick Pulgar and Federico Chiesa La Viola’s joint-top Serie A scorers with six.
Behind them, though, Franck Ribery has been rolling back the years. Despite being limited to just 14 Serie A starts, the 37-year-old has still managed three goals and two assists while he’s also averaged an impressive 2.1 key passes per 90 minutes.
Ribery has about as much experience as you could ever ask for and with tough tests against the likes of Inter and Roma to come in the near future, Fiorentina will be looking for him to inspire his teammates to a valuable win here.
