Revealed: The top 10 Premier League players in FIFA 23

Published: 16:23, 14 September 2022

The launch of FIFA 23 is just a couple of weeks away and EA Sports are starting to build the anticipation.

Ahead of the global release at the end of September, EA Sports have been slowly releasing information to fans, starting with the changes in features and new things to expect with regards to gameplay and game modes.

The last thing to come, and perhaps the part most fans look forward to most pre-launch, has been the player ratings for FIFA 23. After the 2021/22 season, who has been upgraded or downgraded? Who will be the players you just have to have in your Ultimate Team? Which players don’t look usable, and who could enhance Career Mode squads?

Naturally the first batch of players ratings to come was the Top 23 (get it) with Karim Benzema heading the list, albeit joined on his overall rating of 91 by four other players. Now, EA Sports are beginning to officially release player ratings per league with the Premier League the first to get that honour.

The top 23 Premier League players have been announced for FIFA 23 and we’ve taken a closer look at the top 10 below. Who comes out on top?

10. N’Golo Kante (Chelsea)

FIFA 23 rating: 89
FIFA 22 rating: 90

N’Golo Kante didn’t have the best of seasons for Chelsea in 2021/22, seriously struggling with injury problems, which is why his overall has dropped by one from FIFA 22. However, when the Frenchman is fit he remains one of the best midfielders in the world and his absence in the Chelsea midfield is quite telling.

9. Ederson (Man City)

FIFA 23 rating: 89
FIFA 22 rating: 89

Ederson is one of the top goalkeepers in the Premier League and proved it once again last season, keeping 20 clean sheets to earn his share of the Golden Glove. But more importantly, his 20 clean sheets helped Manchester City win the Premier League title for the second consecutive season as the boasted the joint-best defence in the division.

8. Harry Kane (Tottenham)

FIFA 23 rating: 89
FIFA 22 rating: 90

Harry Kane is one of those players who just cannot be used on Ultimate Team, mainly due to his lack of pace, but the Englishman is still one of the best. The downgrade from 90 to 89 may seem a little harsh especially considering Kane still managed to score 17 goals in the Premier League last season despite a poor start to the campaign, helping Tottenham return to the Champions League. He’s started the new season well too.

7. Alisson (Liverpool)

FIFA 23 rating: 89
FIFA 22 rating: 89

As mentioned slightly earlier, Alisson shared the Premier League Golden Glove with Ederson last season for keeping 20 clean sheets across the campaign as Liverpool finished second. The Brazilian was also part of the joint-best defence in the Premier League so it’s only fair that he has the same overall as Ederson on FIFA 23, given there is very little to separate the two.

6. Casemiro (Man Utd)

FIFA 23 rating: 89
FIFA 22 rating: 89

One of the Premier League’s new arrivals, Casemiro joins Manchester United as a European Champion and La Liga winner having formed part of one of the best midfield trios in footballing history for Real Madrid. The Brazilian is one of the best defensive midfielders in the world and has been for the past few years, so fans will no doubt be excited to see him in the Premier League. It’s just a shame he’s not too great on FIFA because of that pace.

5. Son Heung-min (Tottenham)

FIFA 23 rating: 89
FIFA 22 rating: 89

Son Heung-min was one of the best players in the Premier League last season and ended the campaign with the Golden Boot after scoring 23 goals in 35 matches. The South Korean also added a further seven assists as Tottenham finished third, with only one player directly involved in more goals than Son in the Premier League. Perhaps he might have expected an increase in his rating rather than staying the same, but then again he wasn’t even in the PFA Team of the Year.

4. Cristiano Ronaldo (Man Utd)

FIFA 23 rating: 90
FIFA 22 rating: 91

EA Sports have brought quite a few players down a rating or two this year, especially as they get older, and Cristiano Ronaldo is one of those to suffer. In his first season back at Man Utd the Portuguese forward scored 18 goals in 30 Premier League matches plus a further six in seven in the Champions League, showing everyone that he still has it despite turning 37 in February. But this could be the last time we see Ronaldo 90+.

3. Virgil van Dijk (Liverpool)

FIFA 23 rating: 90
FIFA 22 rating: 89

Liverpool went so close to winning the Quadruple last season and while their attack got a lot of praise, credit must be given to their defence too. At the heart of the defence was Virgil van Dijk who, despite not quite matching his peak pre-injury, remains one of the best centre-backs in the world. Nevertheless, it is a minor surprise to see Van Dijk’s overall go up from FIFA 22 rather than staying the same like others in this list.

2. Mohamed Salah (Liverpool)

FIFA 23 rating: 90
FIFA 22 rating: 89

Earlier we mentioned that only one player had been directly involved in more goals than Son in the Premier League last season and that was Mohamed Salah. Joining Son as Premier League Golden Boot winner on 23 goals, Salah also received the Playmaker Award with 13 assists, more than any other player in the division. The Egyptian also added a further eight goals in the Champions League as Liverpool finished runners-up to Liverpool. But he’s not the best in the Premier League…

1. Kevin De Bruyne (Man City)

FIFA 23 rating: 91
FIFA 22 rating: 91

There are five players tied on 91 as the highest-rated in FIFA 23 and one of those is Kevin De Bruyne. The Belgian midfielder is one of the best players in the world and often fights Salah for the honour of being the Premier League’s top dog, given that award by FIFA this year – though Salah took the PFA awards. In the Premier League he scored 15 goals and provided eight assists in 30 appearances as Man City held off Liverpool to win the title.
