Revealed: The top 10 Premier League players in FIFA 23

Published: 7:30, 21 March 2023

We’re moving towards the latter part of FIFA 23’s life cycle and some eyes are already looking to the next version of the game — whatever it will be called.

But let’s not put FIFA 23 on the shelf just yet. Whether it’s Ultimate Team, Online Seasons, Career Mode or simply Kick-Off mode, there is still fun to be had on FIFA 23.

Whichever mode you play, you’re going to want to use the best players, and the Premier League is arguably the best league in the world.

But who are the best players in the best league? We’ve taken a look at the top 10.

10. Erling Haaland (Man City)

FIFA 23 rating: 88

There are a few Premier League players rated 88, with all three coming from Man City. The man we’ve got in the top 10 is Erling Haaland, who has been blowing away the Premier League this season. The Norwegian is a machine, already scoring 28 goals in 26 games, and looks on course to break all kinds of records. He’s also probably on course to becoming the highest-rated Premier League player on EA Sports FC 24 – or whatever it’s going to be called.

9. N’Golo Kante (Chelsea)

FIFA 23 rating: 89

N’Golo Kante didn’t have the best of seasons for Chelsea in 2021/22, seriously struggling with injury problems, and it’s continued this season which is why his overall has dropped by one from FIFA 22. He’ll probably drop even more next yet.

8. Ederson (Man City)

FIFA 23 rating: 89

Ederson is one of the top goalkeepers in the Premier League and proved it once again last season, keeping 20 clean sheets to earn his share of the Golden Glove. But more importantly, his 20 clean sheets helped Manchester City win the Premier League title for the second consecutive season as the boasted the joint-best defence in the division.

7. Harry Kane (Tottenham)

FIFA 23 rating: 89

Harry Kane is one of those players who just cannot be used on Ultimate Team, mainly due to his lack of pace, but the Englishman is still one of the best. The downgrade from 90 to 89 may seem a little harsh especially considering Kane still managed to score 17 goals in the Premier League last season despite a poor start to the campaign, helping Tottenham return to the Champions League. He’s Haaland’s closest challenger for the Golden Boot this year too, betting 21 so far.

6. Alisson (Liverpool)

FIFA 23 rating: 89

As mentioned slightly earlier, Alisson shared the Premier League Golden Glove with Ederson last season for keeping 20 clean sheets across the campaign as Liverpool finished second. The Brazilian was also part of the joint-best defence in the Premier League so it’s only fair that he has the same overall as Ederson on FIFA 23, given there is very little to separate the two.

5. Casemiro (Man Utd)

FIFA 23 rating: 89

One of the Premier League’s newer players, Casemiro joined Manchester United in the summer as a European Champion and La Liga winner having formed part of one of the best midfield trios in footballing history for Real Madrid. The Brazilian is one of the best defensive midfielders in the world and has been for the past few years. It’s just a shame he’s not too great on FIFA because of that pace.

4. Son Heung-min (Tottenham)

FIFA 23 rating: 89

Son Heung-min was one of the best players in the Premier League last season and ended the campaign with the Golden Boot after scoring 23 goals in 35 matches. The South Korean also added a further seven assists as Tottenham finished third, with only one player directly involved in more goals than Son in the Premier League. Perhaps he might have expected an increase in his rating rather than staying the same, but then again he wasn’t even in the PFA Team of the Year. And he’s not been too good this season, so we could see a drop for next year.

3. Virgil van Dijk (Liverpool)

FIFA 23 rating: 90

Liverpool went so close to winning the Quadruple last season and while their attack got a lot of praise, credit must be given to their defence too. At the heart of the defence was Virgil van Dijk who, despite not quite matching his peak pre-injury, remains one of the best centre-backs in the world. Nevertheless, it is a minor surprise to see Van Dijk’s overall go up from FIFA 22 rather than staying the same like others in this list.

2. Mohamed Salah (Liverpool)

FIFA 23 rating: 90

Earlier we mentioned that only one player had been directly involved in more goals than Son in the Premier League last season and that was Mohamed Salah. Joining Son as Premier League Golden Boot winner on 23 goals, Salah also received the Playmaker Award with 13 assists, more than any other player in the division. The Egyptian also added a further eight goals in the Champions League as Liverpool finished runners-up to Real Madrid. But he’s not the best in the Premier League…

1. Kevin De Bruyne (Man City)

FIFA 23 rating: 91

There are five players tied on 91 as the highest-rated in FIFA 23 and one of those is Kevin De Bruyne. The Belgian midfielder is one of the best players in the world and often fights Salah for the honour of being the Premier League’s top dog, given that award by FIFA this year – though Salah took the PFA awards. In the Premier League he scored 15 goals and provided eight assists in 30 appearances as Man City held off Liverpool to win the title.
