Revealed: The top 10 Premier League players in FIFA 23
FIFA 23, and the series as we know it, is coming to an end.
We’re just a few months away from the first ever EA Sports FC, and information is set to be released soon to build up to the new game. But let’s not put FIFA 23 on the shelf just yet.
Whether it’s Ultimate Team, Online Seasons, Career Mode or simply Kick-Off mode, there is still fun to be had on FIFA 23.
Whichever mode you play, you’re going to want to use the best players, and the Premier League is arguably the best league in the world.
But who are the best players in the best league? We’ve taken a look at the top 10 as of the latest squad and ratings update – so not just the base card you can get on Ultimate Team, the ratings in the “regular” modes.
10. Bernardo Silva (Man City)
FIFA 23 rating: 88
One of five Manchester City players to have a rating of 88 or higher, Bernardo Silva continues to be something of an unsung hero across their Treble-winning campaign. And he may not even be part of their squad next season.
9. Ederson (Man City)
FIFA 23 rating: 88
Ederson is one of the top goalkeepers in the Premier League but kept just 11 clean sheets last season with a minor 46 saves. A poor season by the Brazilian’s standards, it didn’t really matter in the end as Erling Haaland got the goals to win them the title (and the Treble), but it’ll be interesting to see where Ederson’s rating stands next year having dropped from 89 to 88 over the course of FIFA 23.
8. Son Heung-min (Tottenham)
FIFA 23 rating: 88
Son Heung-min was one of the best players in the Premier League in 2021/22 and ended the campaign with the Golden Boot after scoring 23 goals in 35 matches. The South Korean also added a further seven assists as Tottenham finished third, with only one player directly involved in more goals than Son in the Premier League. But he struggled in 2022/23 alongside most of his Tottenham teammates and we could see a drop in his rating for next year, as he has already fallen from 89 to 88.
7. Virgil van Dijk (Liverpool)
FIFA 23 rating: 88
Liverpool went so close to winning the Quadruple in 2021/22 and while their attack got a lot of praise, credit must be given to their defence too. At the heart of the defence was Virgil van Dijk who, despite not quite matching his peak pre-injury, remains one of the best centre-backs in the world. His overall went up to 89 as a result, but across the campaign it dropped slightly to 88 with Liverpool failing to finish in the top four.
6. Harry Kane (Tottenham)
FIFA 23 rating: 89
Harry Kane scored 30 goals in the Premier League in 2022/23 despite playing in a poor Tottenham side, and he still didn’t manage to win the Golden Boot. But Kane remains one of the best strikers in the division’s history and has just Alan Shearer ahead of him on the list of all-time top goalscorers. Having been downgraded from 90 to 89 for FIFA 23, we await his rating for the new game this September. And if he’ll even be a Premier League player.
5. Alisson (Liverpool)
FIFA 23 rating: 89
The best goalkeeper in the Premier League, at least by EA Sports’ ratings. He once again wins the battle of the Brazilians, besting Ederson, having added another 14 clean sheets to his Premier League collection as well as making 108 saves across the 2022/23 campaign.
4. Casemiro (Man Utd)
FIFA 23 rating: 89
One of the Premier League’s newer players, Casemiro joined Manchester United last summer as a European Champion and La Liga winner having formed part of one of the best midfield trios in footballing history for Real Madrid. The Brazilian is one of the best defensive midfielders in the world and has been for the past few years. It’s just a shame he’s not too great on FIFA because of that pace.
3. Mohamed Salah (Liverpool)
FIFA 23 rating: 89
Only two players were directly involved in more Premier League goals in 2022/23 than Mohamed Salah’s 31, with 19 goals and 12 assists. The Egyptian’s good campaign despite Liverpool’s struggles kept him his starting overall of 89 in FIFA 23, but he’s not the best in the Premier League…
2. Erling Haaland (Man City)
FIFA 23 rating: 90
Erling Haaland started FIFA 23 with an overall of 88 but has been boosted to 90 after a fantastic campaign. The Norwegian is a machine, blowing the Premier League away with 36 goals in 35 games, breaking the competition’s record. Overall, his goals were key in securing Manchester City that Treble including a first ever Champions League. He’s also probably on course to becoming the highest-rated Premier League player on EA Sports FC 24 – or whatever it’s going to be called.
1. Kevin De Bruyne (Man City)
FIFA 23 rating: 91
At the start of FIFA 23, there were five players tied on 91 as the highest-rated in FIFA 23 and one of those is Kevin De Bruyne. The Belgian midfielder is one of the best players in the world and often fought with Salah for the honour of being the Premier League’s top dog, given that award by FIFA in 2021/22. Last season, De Bruyne secured yet another Playmaker Award with 16 assists across the campaign, four more than second-placed Salah and Leandro Trossard.
