Feyenoord vs Heracles build-up, previous line-ups & team news:
It’s been a good season so far for Feyenoord both in the Eredivisie and European competition. Having played 24 games across all competitions, Feyenoord have lost just three matches, two in the league and one in Europa Conference League qualifying – though they had a 5-0 aggregate lead going into that particular match. Since a 2-1 defeat to Vitesse at the start of October, Feyenoord have gone nine games unbeaten across all competitions and that has allowed them to stay close to the top two in the Eredivisie despite playing one game fewer. Now they will be looking to capitalise on PSV dropping points at the weekend to leapfrog them and move to within just one point of Ajax.
The same cannot be said for Heracles who go into this game just four points clear of the relegation play-off spot, though they also have a game in hand on those below them as this fixture had to be rescheduled. Heracles, who are 14th, have won just four of their opening 13 league games this season, drawing two and losing seven. Only the bottom three have lost more games than Heracles, who are also the third-lowest scorers in the division. Heracles aren’t in good form either, with just one win from their past six league matches, drawing one (against Ajax) and losing four.
- Feyenoord (vs Twente): Marciano; Pedersen, Trauner, Senesi, Malacia; Kokcu, Aursnes; Toornstra, Til, Sinisterra; Linssen.
- Heracles (vs Utrecht): Blaswich; Fadiga, Rente, Knoester, Quagliata; De la Torre, Schoofs; Azzaoui, Sierra, Burgzorg; Sierhuis.
Justin Bijlow is the only doubt for Feyenoord, but Heracles remain without a host of players including Elias Oubella, Rai Vloet and Adrian Szoke.
Player to watch: Bryan Linssen (Feyenoord)
After a fairly tough first season at Feyenoord, Bryan Linssen has found his feet in Rotterdam, leading the line with expertise and class.
The 31-year-old has been directly involved in 10 goals in the Eredivisie so far this season, scoring eight and recording two assists, more than any other Feyenoord player. For goals, Linssen is level with Guus Til at Feyenoord but the striker has played fewer minutes than his teammate.
Across the rest of the Eredivisie only Sebastien Haller (nine) has scored more goals than Linssen but, again, the Ivorian has played more minutes and Linssen comes out on top per 90 minutes (0.76 to 0.75). On a personal level though, Linssen will also be happy with his start to the campaign as his eight league goals after 13 matches has seen him already equal his tally for last season.
He is now just two goals away from cracking the 10-goal mark in the Eredivisie for the seventh time, with his best tally being 17 in the 2017/18 campaign (including play-offs).
