There’s just something about Anfield and famous European nights, isn’t there?

The majority of people did not give Liverpool a chance prior to the second leg of their Champions League semi-final against Barcelona.

But Jurgen Klopp’s men produced the ‘impossible’ comeback and scored four unanswered goals to send the Catalans packing.

Now, fans can be excused for getting a bit caught up in all the commotion, so you may well have missed the tactical battle that took place.

However, Statman Dave was paying attention and has broken down the tactics behind what is being described as the competition’s greatest ever comeback.

It seems not even Lionel Messi is immune to going a bit wobbly at the knees when the pressure is on – and the visitors simply had no answer to Liverpool’s speed and desire.

The absence of both Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino was scarcely felt as the Reds’ fringe players stepped up to deliver when it mattered most.

But the usual suspects such as Alisson, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold also more than played their part in an extraordinary game.
