Every Premier League club’s best player in 2024-25 so far

The March international break is over and all eyes can return to the Premier League.
Liverpool are running away with the title, with Mohamed Salah leading the Golden Boot and Playmaker Award standings. He’s also favourite to win the personal awards come the end of the season.
But who have been the best players of the campaign for each team so far this season? We’ve used our Squawka Score to scour all clubs and all positions, from top to 20th, goalkeeper to striker, to find out.
Arsenal: Bukayo Saka
Squawka Score: 82%
There may be some questions on what could have been for Arsenal, had Bukayo Saka not missed a significant part of the season due to injury. Even with that time out, Saka remains the Gunners’ best player this season. His 0.64 intentional assists per 90 minutes remains the best return in the Premier League among wingers with at least 1,000 minutes played. It’s a similar story for Saka’s 1.34 big chances created. He also sits in the 95th percentile and above among wingers for his 8.96 touches in the opposition box per 90 and 2.19 crosses completed.
Aston Villa: Ollie Watkins
Squawka Score: 65%
Ollie Watkins has been directly involved in 19 goals for Aston Villa this season, enough for him to be their best player. Those goals have come at an average of 0.57 per 90, from 0.54 non-penalty Expected Goals and 2.05 non-penalty shots per 90. Watkins has had 6.45 touches in the opposition box per and also registered 0.22 intentional assists per 90.
Brentford: Bryan Mbeumo
Squawka Score: 75%
Bryan Mbeumo has been the man for Brentford in attack this season, particularly when it comes to his 0.52 goals per 90 — for someone playing on the wing. Mbeumo has been a solid goal threat in general, averaging 1.11 shots on target and 0.33 non-penalty xG on Target per 90 this season. All this, despite only having 4.28 touches in the opposition box. A note on his finishing, Bryan Mbeumo’s shot placement ratio of 1.45 is the best among players with at least 50 shots in the Premier League this season.
Brighton: Joao Pedro
Squawka Score: 67%
Brighton and Hove Albion have been a generally good side without any standout stars this season. But it is Joao Pedro who does come out on top through the Squawka Score. The Brazilian has created 0.48 big chances per 90 this season, placing him in the 80-95th percentile among strikers. He’s also won 1.06 possessions in the attacking third per 90 and scored 0.42 goals. This has been more of an out-of-possession campaign for Pedro than a top goalscoring one.
Bournemouth: Dango Ouattara
Squawka Score: 76%
Dango Ouattara has played in a few positions for Bournemouth this season, filling in for injuries. And he’s been a reliable man across the front line. The Burkinabe forward has averaged 0.42 goals per 90 in the league this season from just 1.01 shots on target, with 0.39 non-penalty xGOT. Ouattara has also averaged 6.65 touches in the opposition box per 90 and 1.31 possessions won in the attacking third, the latter placing him in the 95th percentile and above among wingers.
Chelsea: Cole Palmer
Squawka Score: 80%
Cole Palmer has been in a bit of a rough patch in 2025, but he remains Chelsea‘s best player. He also remains one of the highest-scoring players in the Premier League this season. His 0.52 goals per 90 and 0.7 big chances created per 90 ranks him well among attacking players, as does his 1.55 shots on target and 3.75 shots.
Crystal Palace: Daniel Munoz
Squawka Score: 73%
Crystal Palace have the third-best defence in the Premier League this season so it makes sense that their best player is a defender. Daniel Munoz currently takes the crown, thanks to his good performances both in defence and attack. Munoz has averaged 2.34 tackles won per 90 in the league this season, placing him in the 95th percentile and above among full-backs. He also ranks respectably for clearances at 2.49 per 90. At the other end, Munoz has had 3.11 touches in the opposition box per 90 and 0.54 shots on target.
Everton: Ashley Young
Squawka Score: 69%
Ashley Young will be turning 40 this summer, but he’s rolled back the years with his performances this season. The Englishman has been Everton‘s best player with a Squawka Score of 69%. He’s won 58.47% of his ground duels this season, with 1.56 tackles won per 90. He’s also made 2.78 clearances per 90 and completed 4.11 passes into the final third.
Fulham: Antonee Robinson
Squawka Score: 72%
There won’t be many arguments about Antonee Robinson being Fulham‘s best player this season. The American has been the best left-back in the league too, earning him links with a move away. Robinson has registered 10 assists so far this season, with only Salah providing more. He’s also averaged 1.65 tackles won per 90 and 1.73 interceptions.
Ipswich: Liam Delap
Squawka Score: 61%
He may be the best of a bad bunch at Ipswich Town, but Liam Delap still posts a good Squawka Score of 61%. He’s averaged 0.41 goals per 90 in the league this season despite his low non-penalty xG of 0.27. Delap does rank well for being fouled in the final third at 0.66 per 90, with two penalties won in total.
Leicester: Mads Hermansen
Squawka Score: 71%
Leicester City have been terrible in the Premier League this season, but Mads Hermansen has been the best goalkeeper so far. And he’s also been Leicester’s best player. The Dane has averaged 3.91 saves per 90 this season, despite a save percentage of 65.12%. Of those 3.91 saves, 2.88 have come from shots inside the box. It could be argued that Leicester would already be relegated if not for Hermansen — even though his efforts are likely to be in vain.
Liverpool: Mo Salah
Squawka Score: 83%
It should be no surprise that Salah is Liverpool’s best player this season. In fact, he’s the best player in the Premier League overall, again which shouldn’t be a surprise. The Egyptian has averaged 0.94 goals and 0.56 intentional assists per 90 this season, leading the Premier League in both outright metrics. He also ranks in the 95th percentile and above among wingers for big chances created (0.73), shots on target (1.91), non-penalty xGOT (0.68) and touches in the opposition box (10.95) per 90. We could list even more, but we don’t want to turn this into a dissertation.
Man City: Erling Haaland
Squawka Score: 78%
He may not be on his way to the Golden Boot for the first time but Erling Haaland is still having a strong season. And he’s been Manchester City‘s best player. Haaland has averaged 0.67 goals per 90 in the league this season from 0.67 non-penalty xG and 0.74 non-penalty xGOT per 90. That’s a shot placement ratio of 1.09. The Norwegian sits in the 95th percentile and above among strikers for goals from open play at 0.69, while also hitting the target with 56.86% of his shots.
Man Utd: Amad Diallo
Squawka Score: 72%
Amad Diallo’s potentially season-ending injury was a big blow for Manchester United, and he remains their top-scoring player. This is helped by Bruno Fernandes not sticking to one position this season. But that’s not to take anything away from Diallo. The Ivorian has been fantastic for Man Utd, particularly under Ruben Amorim. He’s averaged 0.28 intentional assists per 90 this season, which goes a little bit further to highlight a player’s creativity. Diallo has also taken 7.01 touches in the opposition box per 90 and won possession 1.47 times per 90 in the attacking third.
Newcastle: Alexander Isak
Squawka Score: 82%
Alexander Isak has been the best striker in the Premier League this season, so it makes sense that he’s Newcastle United‘s leading man. The Swedish star has averaged 0.83 goals per 90 in the league this season, from 0.61 non-penalty xG and 0.6 non-penalty xGOT. Although that means his shot placement ratio is just below 1.0, that won’t take away from Isak’s finishing ability. Nor will Newcastle fans care.
Nottingham Forest: Nikola Milenkovic
Squawka Score: 72%
Nikola Milenkovic will surely go down as one of the signings of the season. He has been fantastic for Nottingham Forest this season, and their best player, which is impressive considering how well they have played. Milenkovic has won 70.91% of his aerial duels and 65.57% of his ground duels, losing just 0.18 challenges per 90. He’s averaged 2.79 aerial duels won and five clearances per 90 too.
Southampton: Aaron Ramsdale
Squawka Score: 61%
Another relegation-bound team with a goalkeeper as their best player. Aaron Ramsdale has been Southampton‘s best player so far this season, though the top three were pretty close with Paul Onuachu (59%) and Kyle Walker-Peters (58%) also trying their best for Saints. Ramsdale has been busy in the Southampton net with 4.33 saves per 90 in the league, 2.62 of which have come from shots inside the box. He ranks in the 95th percentile among goalkeepers for saves per 90.
Tottenham: James Maddison
Squawka Score: 80%
James Maddison has played in a couple of positions for Tottenham Hotspur this season, but he comes out on top wherever. The Englishman has received a fair bit of criticism, despite averaging 0.53 goals per 90 and posting 7.95 penalty area entries. Although football is about more than just statistics, Maddison ranks well for the required metrics in his position. His standing among Tottenham players is also helped by the fact that the club have generally struggled as a whole this season.
West Ham: Aaron Wan-Bissaka
Squawka Score: 70%
Aaron Wan-Bissaka has been West Ham United‘s best player this season, and there hasn’t been much contest. He’s been top quality defensively, winning 61.46% of his ground duels and losing just 0.22 challenges per 90. He’s also made 3.14 clearances per 90, placing him in the 95th percentile and above among full-backs.
Wolves: Matheus Cunha
Squawka Score: 78%
He got himself sent off in a cup game, missing crucial games, but Matheus Cunha remains Wolverhampton Wanderers’ most important and best player. The Brazilian has averaged 1.47 shots on target per 90 this season, and 0.21 goals from outside the opposition box. Cunha hasn’t relied on penalties either, in the 95th percentile and above for goals scored from open play at 0.5 per 90.
