Fantasy Premier League tips: Three must-have differential picks for FPL Gameweek 28
Holly was on song again last week, offering some great differential picks once again. What has she got in store ahead of Gameweek 28?
Our resident FPL expert has been working alongside the Comparison Matrix to determine who are the low-ownership picks that could return big hauls this weekend.
Holly has picked out three players that could prove to be the difference in your league. Can Antoine Semenyo profit from games against Sheffield United and Luton or will Alfie Doughty be the man to excel against Palace and Bournemouth?
Alfie Doughty vs Crystal Palace (A), Bournemouth (A)
Luton Town’s Alfie Doughty is listed as a defender in the game, but has had a highly successful spell playing at wing-back where he’s chalked up nine goal involvements for the season: one goal and eight assists. Only Kieran Trippier has more among defenders.
He also ranks second for chances created among defenders while his 230 crosses this season ranks him top of all players in the game, irrespective of position. He is dominant on corners for the Hatters, allowing multiple routes to fantasy returns.
Marcus Tavernier vs Sheffield United (H), Luton Town (H)
Another important set piece taker to consider is Bournemouth midfielder Marcus Tavernier who has started each of their last four games. He takes a large proportion of the Cherries corners and free kicks which amplifies FPL points for the winger.
Tavernier has six attacking returns this season, including notably scoring a brace in the reverse fixture against Sheffield United, with the score ending 3-1 to Bournemouth. With 12 shots on goal in the last four gameweeks, there’s certainly potential for more.
Antoine Semenyo vs Sheffield United (H), Luton Town (H)
Cherries talisman and striker Dominic Solanke will take most of the headlines in the lead up to this double gameweek, but his team-mate and striker partner Antoine Semenyo shouldn’t be overlooked ahead of this pair of favourable fixtures.
Semenyo has scored just two points less than Solanke in the last four gameweeks, scoring against Burnley and Newcastle United. He’s a big differential in just 2.3% of sides, and is also very friendly on the budget at just £4.5 million.
