Fantasy Premier League tips: Three must-have differential picks for FPL Gameweek 27
Not many people would’ve been looking at Rayan Ait-Nouri last weekend but Holly was, and what a pick it turned out to be. What has she got in store ahead of Gameweek 27?
Our resident FPL expert has been working alongside the Comparison Matrix to determine who are the low-ownership picks that could return big hauls this weekend.
Holly has picked out three players that could prove to be the difference in your league. Can Jarrad Branthwaite continue his push to make the England squad and will Gabriel Martinelli put a struggling Sheffield United side to the sword?
Jarrad Branthwaite vs West Ham (H)
Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite was so close to a monster haul last time out, after scoring his second goal of the season against Brighton, for just 5.7% of owners. The Toffees saw their clean sheet wiped out deep into injury time by the Seagulls 10 men.
Everton still rank highly for their defensive potential this season, with eight clean sheets for the campaign putting them second behind Arsenal with 10. Opponents West Ham are in a dismal run of form and have failed to score in consecutive away games.
Gabriel Martinelli vs Sheffield United (A)
Arsenal can’t stop scoring in 2024, with 25 goals in their last six gameweeks putting them well ahead of Liverpool on 20. Talisman Bukayo Saka is almost 65% owned going into the trip to Sheffield United and plenty of managers will back him for the captaincy too.
Doubling up on the Arsenal attack with Gabriel Martinelli who is just 6% owned is a differential move. The winger has started each of the Gunners last four games, notching a goal and an assist in that time, from nine shots and eight key passes.
Taiwo Awoniyi vs Liverpool (H)
With managers opting to switch back to a 3-4-3 formation in FPL there’s plenty of scrutiny in thost precious three forward spots, but Nottingham Forest’s Taiwo Awoniyi is making a strong case for inclusion and since returning from injury he’s a differential at 1.8% owned.
He has two goal involvements in his last two games, taking him up to nine goal involvements for the season from 12 starts. With Liverpool facing an injury crisis, including to first choice goalkeeper Alisson Becker, Forest will fancy their chances in this home game.
