Group C – Matchweek Two

Group C
Date Fixture Ground
20/06 Slovenia 1-1 Serbia Munich Football Arena, Munich
*All times BST

Slovenia very nearly confirmed their spot in the knock-out stages in Munich as Zan Karnicnik gave them a second-half lead against Serbia on Matchday Two. Despite their best efforts, Matjaz Kek’s men were unable to hold onto the three points as a 95th minute Luka Jovic equaliser ensured the spoils were shared.

Group C – Matchweek Three

Group C
Date Fixture Ground
25/06 England 0-0 Slovenia Cologne Stadium, Cologne
*All times BST

While England fans were understandably disappointed once again with their team’s performance on Matchday Three, credit has to go to Slovenia for a dogged defensive display in this game. The 0-0 draw that they worked hard to earn was enough to send the Dragons through in third place.

Slovenia were close to causing a huge shock against Portugal in the Round of 16, before eventually succumbing to a 3-0 penalty defeat after a goalless draw after 120 minutes. Cristiano Ronaldo missed a penalty in extra-time before Benjamin Sesko missed a guilt-edged chance in the final seconds.
