Daniil Medvedev is aiming to reach a fifth consecutive final in 2023. The fourth-seed Russian won three consecutive titles in Rotterdam, Doha and Dubai, but missed out on a fourth title in a row in Indian Wells, where he finished runner-up to Carlos Alcaraz. However, the world number five has carried his menacing form to Miami — handing Frenchman Quentin Halys a straight-set shellacking on Tuesday to move into the last eight of the Miami Open — and is two wins away from a fifth final in a row. It will be interesting to see if he can break the quarterfinal jinx in Miami and move into the semifinals for the first time.

As for world number 119 Christopher Eubanks he made it to the main draw through the qualifying rounds and got his first-ever win in Miami when he beat Denis Kudla in straight sets. In the next round, Eubanks came from a set down to eliminate the 17th seed Borna Coric. It was Eubanks’ first top-20 win of his career. The 26-year-old American then defeated Grégoire Barrère in straight sets to record three consecutive ATP main draw wins for the first time in his career and that win also guaranteed him a spot in the top 100 next week. It will be the first time that Eubanks will be breaking into the top 100 in the world. He then continued his winning momentum and knocked out French veteran Adrian Mannarino to reach his first-ever ATP 1000 quarterfinal.
